for all the things you might not say in the life you live day to day, the hilarious one-liners you only come up with a couple of hours after the fact, the straight line you wish you took when the opportunity presented itself—that’s hawke. every misplaced, mistimed, gloriously irreverent joke, every impulse acted on, every punchline punched. maybe that’s why varric loves writing him so damn much. call it poor impulse control or call it pure fantasy—that’s hawke. and you can’t help but love the way he tastes.

In which Hawke finally get to dress like Isabela.
‘You know, Hawke,’ Varric says, ‘most people get a crazy idea in the middle of a drinking party at the Hanged Man one night and don’t wake up the next morning to make it a reality.’
‘And that’s why you love me so very much,’ Hawke replies.
He likes to think Varric’s ensuing hmph is just a dwarven version of a resounding yes. Why, it’s practically a proposal. But they’ll need to have the wedding right away, because Isabela’s going to kill him for stretching her boots out.
‘No corset?’ Anders asks, keeping his eyes pointedly above the sash.
Hawke wishes he’d said No rigid boning? At least, he wishes someone would say No rigid boning?
‘I wasn’t going to mention it because it’s such a touchy subject, but no,’ Hawke says. ‘Actually, I couldn’t do the laces up.’
‘Isabela’s legs are better suited to the look,’ Fenris adds, then clears his throat. ‘…Do not let her know I said that.’
‘Because there won’t be any living with her after that?’ Hawke asks.
‘Most of the time, there’s no living with any of you,’ Varric says.
